Greg White, Network Solutions and Performance Excellence VP gave an update on the RPDC and RTH roll outs at the summer MTAC meetings. As of July 9th, there are 18 Regional Processing and Distribution Centers in various stages of activity. When asked about the final count and timeline, he responded with about 60’ish, and 3-5 years’ish. In the most recent posting from USPS to the PRC they have identified the names and locations of 56 planned RPDCs.
Activation dates ranged from three years ago with the first RPDC in Richmond to the newest launch this recent June in Sacramento.

At present there are 162 active Sorting and Delivery Centers (S&DCs) across the nation covering 15,700 carrier routes.
Over the next 90 days USPS is launching 22 new S&DCs
The network is dependent on Regional Transportation Hubs (RTH’s) as transfer points between RPDC regions. By the end of 2027 there will be 17 active RTH’s, 4 of which are independent stand alone facilities in Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, and Kansas City. Greg shared that in the past 90 days there were 13 S&DCs, 3 RTHs and 3 RPDCs activated. USPS has been insourcing all Surface Transfer Centers (STCs) which were prior contract managed into USPS facility operations under USPS employee management. There are 3 STC’s remaining, the plan is to insure those within the next year.
