The OIG is divided into three areas, (1) The Office of Audit, (2) Office of Investigations, and (3) The Research and Insights Solution Center. The Semiannual report to congress summarizes their important work. Over the last six months of the first half of the USPS fiscal year, October- March the OIG issues 38 audit reports and management advisories that provided 89 recommendations to postal management.
Their investigations led to 433 arrests, 357 convictions, and over $91 million in fines, restitution, and recoveries, of which more than $13 million was returned to the Postal Service.
