On June 24th USPS published the unaudited financials for the month of May. On approximately the 23rd of each month that does not end a Postal quarter the USPS publishes to the PRC the unaudited financials for the prior month.
For months that do end a Postal quarter- December, March, June, and September- they are not published until approximately six weeks after the month closes. Our next published financials are expected on August 7th, at the Board of Governors meeting when USPS FY26 Q3 numbers will be released.
Market Dominant volume is beating plan numbers in revenue and volume, but competitive is missing targets in both.
The Postal Service reported a net loss of $779 million for the month of May 2026, eight percent greater than during the same period last year (SPLY). Year-to-date, the Postal Service has lost $4.7 billion.
May shows all mail volume down with the exception of Marketing Mail. The mid term elections are generating more political mail than originally forecasted. We now expect to see the Q4 numbers for Marketing Mail to beat the planned numbers as well.

Revenue for all categories except for Periodicals and International (2.3% of the total volume) was higher than SPLY due to increased postage rates.
