Oversight of the U.S. Postal Service: The Financial Future Under Postmaster General Steiner
The House government operation subcommittee will be holding a hearing today, March 17th with witness testimony from Postmaster General Steiner and David Marroni, Director, Physical Infrastructure, U.S. Government Accountability Office. Much of the hearings focus will likely be on the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) troubled financial situation after losing billions of dollars. USPS has hit its borrowing limit of $15 billion and has stated that they need that extended in order to not run out of money and to keep its capital expenditures commitments related to the modernization of its network.
