Big news from the USPS: There will be no price change in January 2026 for First-Class, Marketing Mail, and Periodicals.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what this announcement really means for mailers
USPS Price Change Update: What Does “No January Increase” Actually Mean for Your Business?
- Does this affect planned promotions? No! All 2026 promotions were approved back in July 2025 and are still on track. Keep those campaigns planned!
- What about the July 2026 increase? Based on current regulations, the forecast for July 2026 is a 5.3%+ increase. This includes factors like a moving average CPI, non-compensatory surcharge, and a density factor. Start budgeting!
- Will structural changes still happen? Some will! Four proposed changes will be tied to a future price change (likely July 2026), but a few others are still expected to proceed in January 2026, such as introducing shape-based label lists and postage statement expansion.
- What about competitive products? As of now competitive products are still planned for a January 20226 price change.
Stay informed and make sure your team is prepared for these important shifts. Don’t let your mail strategy fall behind!
