Parcel Market Forecast Growth

ShipMatrix Inc. projects that domestic parcel volumes will grow at a compound annual rate of 4% over the next three years, with Amazon, Walmart, and other carriers expected to pull market share from USPS, FedEx, and UPS.

United States Postal Service Turns 250!

On July 26, 2025, the USPS will celebrate its 250th anniversary. In celebration, there will be multiple activities throughout the week of July 21 — including a reception at the Smithsonian Postal Museum the evening of Tuesday, July 22.

New Postmaster General

David Steiner, the 76th Postmaster General, officially takes office on Monday, July 14, 2025. Mr. Steiner, like Louis DeJoy, came from a private enterprise background.

USPS May Unaudited Financials

While service performance has improved, the financial performance at USPS has not. The Postal Service reports out the monthly numbers unaudited to the PRC traditionally on the 23rd of the following month. At the end of each fiscal quarter, they present the 10-Q about six weeks after quarter end.

USPS Services Improve

Overall service performance for both Marketing and First-Class Mail has seen marked improvements over the last two months. The Letters are exceeding the same period last year, although the flats still lag. Periodicals also are not meeting their target or SPLY.

Price change this weekend (July 13, 2025)

Both the Market Dominant and Competitive product price filings were approved by the PRC and are effective as of Sunday, July 13, 2025. Mailers are preparing for a 7.5% – 12+% increase based on class and mailing profile.
