GrayHair employees recently united to launch the GrayHair Green Guardians, an environmentally-conscientious team spanning over seven different internal departments with members residing in the U.S. and overseas.

After transitioning to 100% remote work in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, GrayHair Software has been continuously challenged to develop creative ways to give back to the community, save energy, and reduce its carbon footprint. With the absence of a physical office aiding the latter, this team has grown increasingly invested in the opportunity for the entire company to do more. The solution: a green goal-driven team with a really cool name.

The GrayHair Green Guardians, also referred to internally as “G-3”, are made up of 20 passionate employee volunteers who have set out with the mission of “promoting and celebrating environmental responsibility across the company.” This news comes as the Green Guardians have officially joined forces with the Green Business Bureau (GBB), a green solutions-driven business that helps companies of all sizes manage green initiatives through their comprehensive sustainability framework. Members of the GBB include FTD, Tridata, and RTD Logistics.

Shannon Racz, a member of GrayHair’s Shared Services team quickly emerged as the group’s fearless leader, volunteering extra time to organize meetings, gather potential initiatives, and more. “I saw an opportunity to integrate some of our original office sustainability practices into our individual homes but like most things, we are able to make a greater impact when we work together as a team. There is a lot of shared excitement and passion throughout the group, so I am eager to see what we can accomplish.”

GRAYHAIR GREEN GOALS:

  1. Acquire highest Green Initiative Status (Gold) through the GBB by end of 2022
  2. Implement a day for company-wide volunteerism through the GHS employee volunteer days program
  3. Promote awareness and education of green initiatives across the company
  4. Achieve at least 75% of employee involvement in our GBB initiatives

Stay tuned for more updates on the GrayHair Green Guardians as they grow in size and start making changes at the ground level.
