The USPS® Announces Recommended Price Increase for July 2024

As of April 9, 2024, the USPS has announced significant changes to its mailing services prices to go into effect July 14, 2024 . Among these changes is a 5-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail ® Forever stamp, jumping from 68 cents to 73 cents.

These adjustments, endorsed by the governors of the Postal Service, are expected to raise mailing services product prices by approximately 7.8 percent. Pending review by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), these changes will impact various mailing services products.

Product Current Price  Proposed Price
Letters (1 oz.) 68 cents 73 cents
Letters (metered 1 oz.) 64 cents 69 cents
Domestic Postcards 53 cents 56 cents
International Postcards $1.55 $1.65
International Letter (1 oz.) $1.55 $1.65

The Postal Service is also pursuing price modifications for Special Services offerings, such as Certified Mail® and money order fees. Notably, there are no plans for a price hike in Post Office Box rental fees. Additionally, the Postal Service is set to implement a 10 percent price reduction on postal insurance for mailed items.

The Cost of ‘Bad Mail’

It is also important to note the cost increase associated with ‘bad’ a.k.a Undeliverable-as-Addressed (UAA) mail.

Keep an eye out for an 11-14% increase in ACS fees for non-Full Service users. Full-Service ACS remains free, providing comprehensive address correction solutions. Our experts have pointed out that by taking advantage of the new data that came with CASS Cycle O, you could potentially reduce UAA mail by over 10%! This means significant cost savings for your mailing operations.
