March 2023

Women’s History Month is celebrated annually to highlight the vital role of women in history and contemporary society. Since 1987, the U.S. has formally recognized March as Women’s History Month, with many businesses, community groups, and individuals alike, joining together to honor the strength, resiliency, and leadership that continues to be demonstrated by women everywhere.

At GrayHair, we value the incredible women who have chosen to share their talents with our team. Each and every day, our GrayHair women successfully motivate those around them, act swiftly to solve problems and inspire our teams to approach their roles with tenacity.

What advice would you share with other current or future female leaders?

“We can uplift and support women in our workforce by encouraging one another’s growth. It is our responsibility to build a community of feedback that is unique to women, especially in such a male-dominated industry. We must CELEBRATE each woman’s journey and call out any inequalities.”

Valerie Capasso, Chief of Staff

What is your favorite motivational quote?

“I have been at probably every powerful table that you can think of, I have worked at non-profits, I have been at foundations, I have worked in corporations, served on corporate boards, I have been at G-summits, I have sat in at the UN; they are not that smart.”
— Michelle Obama

Lillian Miller, VP of Finance

Is there a female leader that inspires you?

“I look up to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. She is the third woman, first woman of color, and first Latina to serve on the Supreme Court. She was born in New York, grew up in a Puerto Rican family, and is bilingual (Spanish and English). She is known for her impassioned dissents on issues of race, ethnicity, and women’s rights.”

Jessica Bittmann, Head of Human Resources

How has GrayHair helped you feel more empowered as a female leader in Tech?

“GrayHair has given me the support I’ve needed to grow into a strong leader. At times, this meant others challenging me and believing in me when I didn’t even know I had the capability to do so. We have an amazing group of strong female leaders at GrayHair and we are constantly learning from one another. It’s a wonderful thing to work for an organization that empowers you to think outside the box, make mistakes, learn, grow, and thrive!”
