The USPS 10-Year “Delivering for America” Plan initiatives continue to be implemented with the approval of the Market Dominant Products Price Increase by the Postal Regulatory Commission as well as approval of the First Class Delivery Standards change. The Mailing Industry, through organizations such as the Association for Postal Commerce, is challenging the Price Change in the courts which could possibly delay the implementation of both the rate increase. This opposition is not expected to delay the implementation of either item.
The price increase is expected to raise the price of a First-Class™ piece of mail from 55 cents to 58 cents and would generally raise the price of commercial products by an average of 6.8%. It is expected to impact the budgets of enterprise-level mailers who are already dealing with the USPS’s increase on its market-dominant mail productions in January to keep up with inflation.
Another great area of concern is the upcoming changes to the First Class Delivery Standards changes which will delay mail delivery to many parts of the country as mail is transitioned from air to ground transportation.
