What event says GrayHair more than the Dog Days of Summer Family Festival? The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum is celebrating the Dog Days of Summer on July 28 and 29, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (both days) with activities taking place throughout the museum.

This family event covers the life of Owney, a scruffy mutt who became a well-known symbol of the USPS® and was commemorated on his own postage stamp in 2011. The festival explores the unique role that animals have played in the postal system over time. Don’t miss the demo by the Amtrak Police showcasing the work of intelligent and hardworking K-9 units. Stop by the City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue to adopt a pet in need.

There’s a full schedule of fun activities – scavenger hunt, make an Owney puppet, mule mail challenge and more.
